What To Do Before A Tattoo Session

Posted: Wednesday January 24, 2024

Prior to getting tattooed at Manchester Tattoo Studio, there are essential steps we ask you to take and some recommendations to ensure a smooth tattooing experience.

The Health Check Form:

Your first task is to complete the MTS health check form. It’s a brief questionnaire where you’ll check a few boxes to confirm your eligibility for a new tattoo. This form is also an opportunity for you to disclose any allergies or medications that might impact the tattoo process. You’ll receive a text containing the health check form 24 hours before your appointment. (Note: If you have an international number, we have paper versions available at the studio.)

A Nourishing Meal:

Having a substantial meal before your tattoo is crucial. Even for early morning appointments, breakfast is non-negotiable. Your body needs the energy during the tattooing process, and skipping a meal may lead to a drop in blood sugar, resulting in dizziness and faintness. Opt for protein-rich foods, those high in vitamin C, and items with ample zinc content. But, the good news is; we also recommend bringing some of your favourite sugary treats to keep those bood sugars up throughout!

Stay Hydrated:

Hydration is key before getting tattooed. Start moisturising the area a couple of days before your appointment. this just helps the needle glide over the skin naturally and disperse the ink equally. Additionally, ensure your body is well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water before and during your tattoo session, especially if it’s a lengthy one.

Bring Identification:

Remember to bring a valid ID to your appointment. Present it to either the receptionist or your tattoo artist before the tattooing process begins. This step is essential for verification purposes.
